I'm afraid that I'm having a bit of trouble understanding what you are describing. Can you try to explain in more detail how you lost access to dropbox? If you've forgotten your Dropbox password, perhaps you could try resetting your Dropbox password?

Which Moneydance version are you currently running?
To check your Moneydance version and build details, please select Help --> About Moneydance.

Also, is it a computer or a mobile device which you've having trouble connecting Moneydance to Dropbox sync?

You can also attach screenshots if that helps. If you're not sure how to take a screenshot, please see http://www.take-a-screenshot.org/linux.html

Looking forward to hearing from you, and assisting you further. Thank you.

2021.1. At first, I installed the free version of the software and
configured the syncyc option, so I can synchronize between devices. I use
a Mac, Linux and iPhone and successfully synchronized all three devices
through my work dropbox account. Unfortunately, I don't have access to
that account anymore, therefore the synchronization option doesn't work for
me and I don't know how to reconfigure monydance to use my new dropbox
account.

Please advise.

Fernando Bouchetag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/492786822021-07-06T22:52:36Z2021-07-06T22:52:36ZI can't sync between devices any more

I'm a fellow user.

Either the Mac or Linux machine should be the primary device. The primary device is the one that you can go into the Syncing menu and change syncing to don't sync. You do this and the machine becomes a standalone machine, you then setup syncing as per the knowledge base article on setting up syncing from scratch. you then add the other machines in as secondary machnies just like you originally did. The original Moneydance data on Dropbox is useless so you need to break that link and taking it back to a single standalone machine and rebuilding syncing is the way to do that.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/492786822021-07-06T23:10:52Z2021-07-06T23:10:54ZI can't sync between devices any more

Hi -- In the Mac, which was the main node, the synsyc option hangs the
machine and I need to force quit. In Linux I got an error message saying
that: error: no sync method on the secondary node and prompt for the
encryption passphrase, but it does not allow you to type anything.

Fernando Bouchetag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/492786822021-07-06T23:24:26Z2021-07-06T23:24:26ZI can't sync between devices any more

Hmm interesting.

Time to try to forceably disable syncing.

In Moneydance ensure the data set is open, then use the Moneydance backup option under File --> Backup to create a backup. Then use the restore option to restore this backup - Moneydance will then create a new data set with a new name - the old name with date added to the end.

Try going into the syncing menu on this restored copy and seeing if it will allow you to do anything.

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/492786822021-07-06T23:33:52Z2021-07-06T23:33:57ZI can't sync between devices any more

Hi - I did as you mentioned, File > Export Backup to create a new backup
(in a new location). Then File > Restore. This changed something because now when I go into File > Synsyc now the message is as follows: Sync
Method: Don't Sync and asking for the passphrase, but it doesn't allow me
to type anything in there.

Fernando Bouchetag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/492786822021-07-06T23:42:22Z2021-07-06T23:42:22ZI can't sync between devices any more

Does where it says Don't Sync give you a dropdown where you can change this setting?

dwgtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/492786822021-07-06T23:44:26Z2021-07-06T23:44:31ZI can't sync between devices any more

No in the linux, but let me try this on Mac. Hold on.

Fernando Bouchetag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/492786822021-07-06T23:54:41Z2021-07-06T23:54:41ZI can't sync between devices any more

YES!!!! It worked. Many thanks. Now I will try to re-establishs the sync
option. Cheers.

Fernando Bouchetag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/492786822021-07-07T00:02:58Z2021-07-07T00:02:58ZI can't sync between devices any more

I was expecting you to do that on the Mac. the outcome on the Linux box is expected as it is a secondary machine and requires further steps to turn it into a primary standalone machine.

dwg
