Auto check number problem
This discussion is public.
New to MD and still on trail but like what I see so far. My problem is with the auto check numbering feature when entering a transaction. I ended up missing a book of checks so my check numbers are out of order. As a result when I go to enter the new checks in MD it does not auto number correctly. This is something that I just took for granted in Quicken but wondering if it will work in MD or if there is a way to fix it?
Example:
Started writing check 100, check book ends at 199
Grabbed wrong book and started writing new checks at 400, which
ends at 499
MD works fine so far BUT
Get new book with checks starting at 200, each time I try to enter
a check using the "next check number" feature it enters check
number 500.
Any way to fix or am I stuck until I get back to check #500 and being able to use the auto feature?

Hi macnews,
If I remember correctly, from what I've read on these forums, Moneydance looks back to 10 of the previously entered check numbers to determine the pattern for the 'Next Check #'.
You should be good to go after ten checks.
