Importing an Excel file
This discussion is public.
I want to import my Credit Card charges into my MoneyDance account for that credit card.
I have gone to the bank/credit company's site and can import my charges into an Excel file, but how can I
get the data or that file into MoneyDance?

Hi Susan,
What is the Excel file format? Is it .XLS or is it .CSV? or... is it something else.

Hi Susan,
There are a number of different ways to import a CSV file.
From the Moneydance menu bar, go to File > Import. This will open a file browser allowing you to navigate to your CSV file.
Once it's loaded you will be presented with relevant options for importing the file.
Another option is to use the Text File Importer extension. It is similar to the File > Import option but offers less options.
Finally, there is a free, third-party CSV importer that offers the most options; including separate user-defined file readers for when you are importing from multiple sources.
If you need help with importing your CSV file, it would be best if you could post a small sample of the file.
I would need to see at least 1 charge transaction and 1 payment transaction to see how they are formatted. Include any header or footer rows.
Keep in mind that these are public forums. Make sure that there is no sensitive information in the file before attaching it.
