Alphavantage Mutual Fund quotes
This discussion is public.
Is anyone else seeing that when downloading Mutual Fund quotes they are from the previous day?
Seems that in order to get todays quotes you have to wait till tomorrow.
As of 12/6/2017 7:30 PM Central it says prices as of 12/5/2017.
Edit
Well it is now approx 4:25 AM Central time 12/7/2017 and downloaded quotes for yesterday.
There were a few funds that are not updating. They show prices as of 12/5/2017
Not good. Disappointing.

I just updated to the v1012 version. There must still be a bug in parsing the data. The URL it's using works and is spitting back a CSV file but the extension is still reporting no data. Console log from testing 1 stock:

The CSV file it downloads has all the prices in it though. from 12/15. Maybe since it's an off day. I'll try again tomorrow (monday) and see what happens.

What version of Moneydance are you using? You will need to have 2017.6 for AlphaVantage to work

@dwg ahh that was it. Odd the MD check for updates said there wasn't any updates. Just downloaded and manually upgrade. Thank you sir, quotes seem to be updating now.

Tom
Share prices for stock/mutual funds update for that day late in the day, I can live with the late update. I don't understand why the prices refer to two days prior the next morning. Example 12/18 prices updated last night (12/18), this morning they reverted to 12/15 (Friday) prices. I upgraded to the latest version of MD a couple of weeks ago, am I missing an update?
ThanksEric B

Have to agree. Late updates are OK with me; however, the extension with AlphaVantage is useless -- I also see my mutual fund prices reverting to older ones, and end up having to manually update to fix.

Good morning Tom
I had thought the issue with mutual fund/security price updates had been solved, but recently I am experiencing the same problem...the price updates in the evening but immediately reverts to prices two days prior when I open MD the following morning. Any suggestions?
Thanks Eric

I am having the same problem with mutual fund prices being several days old using the new AlphaVantage app. I am using Moneydance (1661) and the updated extension. Individual stock prices seem to be working OK.

I just updated to build 1663 and now price quotes are not working at all for me on my MacBook. Received response code 503 and message "Service Unavailable..."

When posting it would help if with a screen shot of your extension window or a list of tickers not updating.
I do notice that some of my ticker symbols, Canadian funds, are not updating and giving me a last update 12/18/17. I will check in with the lead developer if their is anyway to check with alpha vantage about this.

I emailed alpha vantage about security prices like Boeing, BBT and other very common stocks not updating. They never even responded :-(

I am not support staff, just a user.
I am a UK investor and have found that Alpha Vantage provide very poor support for UK/Irish/Luxenberg etc, domiciled funds.
I am currently using a free stand-alone program that was originally developed to help out users of MS Money when Microsoft stopped supporting that product.
I find the quotes accurate, up to date and consistent.
I would be interested to know if the same is true for US and Canadian stocks/Funds.
Take a look at the thread below and the PDF in post 3 on how to use the program including how to import the data into Moneydance and let me know how well it works for your securities.
See http://help.infinitekind.com/discussions/investments/3036-third-par...
Hope this helps

Thanks, Derek. I’ll have to try - does it work if you have same securities in different accounts? It all sounds a bit intimidating - I’m not a techie.

Hi JL, glad to hear the program works for you. Can you tell us which type of securities you are using the program for and which stock exchange they are traded on? Is the program easy to use and which method are you using to import the data into Moneydance? Can you post your comments in the thread indicated in post 42 so other user can learn from your experience? Thanks
Hi Sam, the program is really easy to use, try it. There are two methods for importing the data into Moneydance as described in the PDF. Importing a QIF file into any investment account will update all security prices even if a security does not exist in the investment account you import into. The same is true when you use the Security Price Loaded, it connects directly to securities not via an investment account. If you have further question as you try the program just post. Post any symbols with the security name if you can’t get a returned price quote.

After I downloaded the program and unzip it.
I renamed to a shorter name and took the folder and put on my C: drive.
I then made a shortcut of the .exe and put it on my Desktop for easy access.
Make you set your currency via Tools.
My securities are US Mutual Funds.
All I had to do is make a list of of stock ticker, which was already in a excel and did a batch copy and paste into the blank window of the program.
After I download the prices, which is either late that night or early the next morning I highlight (ctrl a) and the a right click to Save as a QIF on my Desktop.
See the instructions after this. It is pretty much straight forward.

I’ve gotten so far as to have updated prices on the lower screen. How do I proceed from there? There is ‘Import to MSMoney’ and ‘Save OFX’? And how do I import into MD?

Hi Sam.
For a QIF file hover over a quote in the “Quote Source Prices” tab right click and select QIF -Save.
For a CSV file hover over a quote in the “Quote Source Prices” tab right click and select MD – Save CSV
If this is ambiguous in the PDF let me know.
Then follow the PDF instructions to import into Moneydance.
Hope this helps

After doing the price update and right-clicking on ‘Quote Source Prices’ all I get is ‘import *.csv file’ but no option of exporting as QIF or CSV file. Where am I going wrong?
Thanks.

Thanks again for your patience, Derek. I’ve gotten the security price loader to import my prices. When saving values how do I get the new price to replace the current price in MD?
Much obliged, thanks.

For some reason the developer of Moneydance has written the program such that imports will only update a given current price once a day. Even if you just open up the subject price history window to look at it before an import it blocks updates for that security for the rest of the day. Import on the following day without looking at the price history window first and the current price will update. Crazy but there you are. In these cases, you have to update the current price manually.
Now you have got used to the process how easy is it to use?
Hope this helps

Thanks, Derek - I’ll try again tomorrow and keep you posted. All but the bond holdings and about half dozen securities seem to get updated. Once installed it looks like easy to handle. So I get to enjoy the NFL semifinals this afternoon with no worries . Greetings and enjoy the rest of Sunday.

Hello again, Derek. I did try to do the update this morning - it still did not take it. I’m going to extension, click on security price loader, the open the file MDQuotes, it has the saved parameters for ticker and price, then click on load. I then get all the securities displayed, click on the window at the bottom for all, and then click on update. When I got out, nothing changed, still the old prices. Could it have anything to do with using the file from yesterday? Thanks, Sam
The securities without prices are FPP

Hi Sam
Can you post a screen shot of the window you get just before you click on “Save Selected Values? Expand all columns so I can read them. Also, the history price window for one of the securities listed.

Hi Sam
When you talk about FPP is it “Fragrant Prosperity Holdings Ltd”
If so try FPP:LSE
or is it FieldPoint Petroleum Corporation
I assume FPP is the symbol what the securities name?

This seems to be another mystery issue. Yesterday, I uploaded pricing four or five times. With the exception of one upload the only symbols not found was RDSA and RDSB (Shell) which Yahoo never found either. On one upload though I had a whole bunch of other securities not found. Today, when I uploaded anew aside from RDSA and RDSB it did not found AEY which it found yesterday (see screen shot).
On the other hand after having ‘Saved Selected Values’ aside from RDSA and RDSB I had three more securities with no prices with symbols FPP, LUX and VE. Going into the MDQuotes file I noticed that the prices for these stocks were there, listed as FPPP, LUXTY and VEOEY which are the correct symbols. For some reason the Uploader must have changed the symbols.
Does this all make any sense? BTW FPPP is Field Point Petroleum.
Thanks, Sam

Ok Sam
If all the data is in the Security Price Loader the issue is not in the stand-alone program but most likely in Moneydance, perhaps the Symbols.
The example security ARENA PHARM.... in your screen shot can you click on EDIT in its history price window. This should display the Edit Security window so we can see the Ticker Symbol. It should be ARNA, no other charters or leading or traying blanks. Can you post a screen shot of this window?
Whilst you doing that I will think about your next post.
