Problems with eTrade
This discussion is public.
I have two eTrade accounts, a standard trading account and an IRA account. I just tried to set up online banking so I can download transactions from eTrade. I got the standard acct set up fine and it downloaded the last trade i did. I then went on to setup the IRA account. This one also downloaded the last trade I made........FROM the standard trading account. Can MD differentiate between two accounts at the same institution? The UID and Password is the same for both accounts as I login into the eTrade website with that ID.
All this works fine within Quicken, so I'm sure I'm using the correct UID/PW.
Thx.

Hi jsfrederick,
Yes Md handles multiple accounts from the same financial institution. I have 4 accounts with Fidelity, all accessed with the same UID/Password.
Make certain you have the proper account #'s entered in the Edit Account window. (Account > Edit Account...)

Yes, I checked that first. Both account numbers are correct. I also verified I chose the correct account when I configured online banking for each account.
Thx.

Hi jsfrederick,
Are you using the latest build of MD? currently 2010r3 (748) If not you can d/l the installation files from here:
http://moneydance.com/trac/wiki/Moneydance2010Beta
I read in a different thread that updating fixed the users problem with E-Trade.

Sorry, Yes I am using 748.
Missed that thread you referenced. Will read it and see if it can solve my problem.
Thanks.

Hi jsfrederick,
I'm at a loss. Perhaps if you disable both accounts and then re-enable them in a different order?
I hope one of the moderators here can help you.

Your accounts are not mapped properly (in other words, one E*Trade account is pointing to each of your Moneydance accounts).
Disable the Online Set-up for the problem accounts. Then you will need to re-enable them. Once you have entered your ID and Password click Ok and wait (do not click next). You need to see a window that will display - "Please choose the account you wish to you" - which are your E*Trade accounts listed in a drop down list. If you bypass this window - your Moneydance Account will map to the first account on this list. Sometimes you will need to just wait for this window to pop-up as it can take several seconds. If you click next you will likely bypass this important window. Believe me I am speaking from experience.

oilcan, that was it! I clicked next on the screen that let me choose the account in MD. Never saw the dialog from etrade listing my accounts on their end. Once I waited and saw the dialog from etrade I understood what was happening.
Thanks much!
