MoneyDance is painfully slow

I need pointers on how to improve performance or find the problem on my computer because MoneyDance is taking nearly a minute for every transaction.

Let's start with capturing some basic information about Moneydance on your system.
What you should do is use Moneydance until you get the problem, then exit the software.
The means the best source for the basic information and perhaps if there are any problems is Moneydance's error log, it is called errlog.txt and can be found at:
1. macOS
On a Mac, the error log should be located at one of these locations within your Home folder:
macOS Big Sur and later:
~/Library/Containers/Moneydance/Data/Library/Application Support/Moneydance/errlog.txt
macOS X Lion until macOS X Catalina:
~/Library/Containers/com.infinitekind.MoneydanceOSX/Data/Library/Application Support/Moneydance/errlog.txt
macOS X Snow Leopard and earlier:
~/Library/Application Support/Moneydance/errlog.txt
If you have any trouble finding your Home Library folder you can open Finder and hold down the option key while selecting the Go menu and the Library folder option should occur or you can open Finder and select Go -> Go to Folder and copy and paste in the following:
~/Library
This should pull up your local Library folder.
Some Moneydance files/folders on macOS are likely to be hidden, on macOS to show hidden files the key sequence CMD-SHIFT-DOT (that’s a period or ‘.’) will show them.
2. Windows
On Windows, the error log should be located under your login directory at:
Windows Vista and later:
C:\Users\(yourusername)\.moneydance\errlog.txt
or
Before Windows Vista:
C:\Documents and Settings\(yourusername)\.moneydance\errlog.txt
No Moneydance files/folders are hidden on Windows.
3. Linux
On Linux the error log should be located in your home folder at:
~/.moneydance/errlog.txt
Some Moneydance files/folders on Linux will be hidden, so for example the .moneydance folder that exists within your login folder is hidden. On Linux to show hidden files the various file managers generally have an option to view hidden files. In a terminal session (i.e. at the command line) use the command “ls” with the -a flag to show all files including those that are hidden.

After I submitted the support request yesterday, I shut down all my apps and updated my MacBook to Tahoe 26.0.1. MoneyDance is now acting normally so I don’t know if it was the reboot or the OS upgrade. I also removed all of the sync options from MoneyDance before the shutdown since my DropBox account is full.
I’ll keep your e-mail so if this happens again I’m prepared to send in the data requested below with the support request.
Thank you for your quick response.

Dropbox full would have been the problem. Everytime MD tried to sync, it would have aborted. Resulting in slowness.
