Moneydance, MacOS Sonoma and DropBox?

Hello: Your tech's say ​​If you have syncing enabled and use the iCloud sync method, we recommend you disable iCloud sync.
You can either continue without syncing until the new preview version is released.
Alternatively, change the sync method to Dropbox.

I've always used DropBox for my sync protocol using MD in Mac OS Ventura. Are you saying that because I DO use DropBox, and continue to use DropBox, Moneydance will work well when I update to Sonoma?

   PREVIEW build 5051 is being tested by users with Sonoma.. Generally it seems OK. HOWEVER, iCloud Sync on Sonoma with any version of MD does not seem to work well (we believe it's an Apple iCloud problem in Sonoma).

   Dropbox seems to continue to work well/OK on Sonoma and will all versions of MD.

   Hello Stuart:

   I appreciate the update. Yours is the only app in my arsenal that has kept me from upgrading to Sonoma. But, given I’m on DropBox for sync, I’ll try the OS pgrade in the next few days.

   BTW, reindexing could take up to a DAY, depending on how things are on your computer. Hours seems minimum. (And yes a lot of the reindexing is iCloud related, not just MD iCloud syncing)

   Upgrade in the evening, then get it to come up and log in, then leave it all night running.
   Then things should be fine overall versus slow (and that's not just for MD, but will help everything run better...)

   Of course, Apple will say reindexing runs in the background, so just plow in, but everything is slow until reindexing finishes.

   Hey, just an update for both of you.

   Before I upgraded to Sonoma (a smooth process btw), I checked my spotlight settings on my Mac. I’ve always had little use for Spotlight, only having “Applications” as my search results option, All others are unchecked. If I feel I’d ever need to use Spotlight to search any other category, I’ll enable it. That said, I’ve run with this spec for years without issue.

   Because of my smallish Spotlight usage, I did not re-index the applications folder before launching Moneydance in Sonoma. It launched just fine and actually seems perkier.

   I now need to upgrade to Sonoma on my MacBook Air and will see if my MD database (residing in Dropbox), opens on the Air (after my upgrade) without issue.

   I think all will be ok and am optimistic.
