Enabling Automatic Backups
Moneydance backups are essentially 'saves' of your entire data set, at the time the backup file was created or modified.
Moneydance backup files use the .moneydancearchive file extension.
You can configure your automatic backup settings within Preferences > Backups.
Within your preferences, you can choose the location for the backups to be saved, and also the number of backups to be stored.
When automatic backups are enabled, Moneydance creates an automatic backup file each time you close your data file.
A backup file will be created each time you close your file until the set number of backups exists, and then each file will be updated in turn.
To easily access your automatic backups, open Moneydance and choose Help > Show Backup Folder.
This will open a new window displaying your automatic .moneydancearhive backup files.
Moneydance also offers the ability to manually export a backup at any time, to a location of your choosing. The steps to do this are outlined in this article.
You'll find information about restoring from a backup file in this article.
