Console Window Sync Options

To access the console window, open Moneydance and choose Help > Console Window.

This will open the console window, containing lots of text relating to the program and your data file.

To view the Console Window options, select the settings icon at the bottom left of the window (highlighted below).

This displays a menu with many options for viewing or managing your Moneydance files and logs.

Syncing
This displays the sync status, either Enabled or Disabled.

If syncing is enabled, below this, you will see your sync file stats showing the recent sync activity Moneydance has performed. They refer to the sync files stored in your chosen sync location (Dropbox, iCloud, shared folder, etc.). Each line indicates what Moneydance has done during its last sync check:

  • Scanned
Moneydance looked at the sync folder to see whether any new or updated files exist.

  • Downloaded
Moneydance found changes from another device and pulled those updates into your local data.

  • Uploaded
Moneydance detected changes you made locally and pushed them to the sync folder so other devices can receive them.

  • Elapsed time
This is how long it took for Moneydance to determine the information above.

Copy Sync Status to Clipboard
This copies the sync status information to the clipboard. You can then paste the contents into another program.

Copy Sync Status to Log
As above, but the information is copied into the main Console Window.

Analyze Sync Folder
This will generate a list in the console window of files, subfolders, and timestamps found under the sync folder for the current file.

Sync Folder -

Selecting this opens a new menu displaying the location of the sync files for the current data file.

You'll see the sync folder location listed at the top of the menu.

  • Select Copy to copy the file location.

  • If you select Show in Finder, you can view the file at its location on your system.

  • Selecting Write to Log will add the file location details to the main Console Window.

Utilities -

Selecting this will display options for making changes to your sync file.

  • Convert to Primary/Secondary
You will see in brackets if the current file is the primary/secondary.
By default, the primary data file is the file you initially set up syncing from.

  • Reset This File from Dropbox Folder Sync Data
This replaces the open data file on the current system with the data stored in the Dropbox sync folder.

  • Reset Dropbox Folder Sync Data from This File
This replaces the Dropbox sync folder contents with the open data from the current device.
