Keyboard Shortcuts in Moneydance

Using keyboard shortcuts can streamline your Moneydance experience.
 

Windows and Linux users can substitute Ctrl for ⌘
Also, substitute Alt for ⌥
 

General

Function Shortcut
Save ⌘ S
Return to Summary ⌘ ⇧ H
Find ⌘ F
Advanced Find ⌘ ⇧ F
Hide/Restore Side Bar ⌘ ⇧ S
Close Current Window ⌘ W

 

Date Fields

Function Shortcut
Advance or “spin” the date forward + or =
“spin” the date backward - or _
Select the current date t
Select the first day in the month m
Select the last day in the month h
Select the first day in the year y
Select the last day in the year r

The jump-to-date shortcuts are easy to remember as the first and last letter in the words -
Today, MontH, and YeaR.
 

Check Number Fields

Function Shortcut
“spin” the check number up + or =
“spin” the check number down - or _

Pressing the + or = keys in an empty check number field automatically calculates the next check number based on past transactions in that account.
 

Transaction Register

Function Shortcut
Begin entry of a new transaction ⌘ N
Delete the currently selected transaction ⌘ Backspace
While editing a transaction will bring up the split editor ⌘ L
To exit the split editor ⌘ W
Select all transactions in the register ⌘ A
Add a new line for a Split transaction ⌘ N
Mark the selected transaction(s) as cleared ⌘ ⌥ C
Mark the selected transaction(s) as uncleared ⌘ ⌥ U
Mark the selected transaction(s) as reconciling ⌘ ⌥ R
Scroll to the current date ⌘ T
Open the "other side" of the selected transaction in a new register ⌘ [
If a downloaded and unconfirmed transaction is selected, confirm the transaction using the default option ⌘ Return
Show a pop-up menu of available actions Right-click or Ctrl/click

 

Downloading Transactions

Function Shortcut
Download all accounts ⌘ ⇧ D
Open account website ⌘ ⇧ O
Download transactions for account you're viewing ⌘ D

 

Tools

Function Shortcut
Open the Accounts window ⌘ ⇧ A
Open the Categories window ⌘ ⇧ C
Open the Reminders window ⌘ ⇧ R
Open the Budget Manager ⌘ ⇧ B
Translate currencies ⌘ U
Access the calculator ⌘ ⇧ L

 

Reconciling

Function Shortcut
Open the Reconcile window for the current account ⌘ B

 

Amount and Rate Fields

You can enter math expressions in any numeric field and Moneydance will calculate the answer.
For example, (200 + 86) * 0.25

Entering a value followed by a three digit currency ID (USD, GBP, EUR, etc) will automatically convert the entered amount from the given currency to the native currency of the field.
